Ian Noble Tribute
  • Erik Spiekermann
  • The LCP (I will always call it that) was always known as the place where real designers were taught. Not some poncy arty-farty style merchants, but hard-core typographers and information designers. This almost Teutonic ethos kept me connected to the College, almost 40 years after I started teaching there myself. Ian embodied that ethos, combined with a dry sense of humour that we foreigners usually do not appreciate. I always thought Ian was most appropriately named: Noble.

Prof. Dr. Erik Spiekermann (lecturer at the LCP 1973–1981),
now Edenspiekermann, Amsterdam, Berlin, San Francisco.
